Remembering industry leaders
The optics community recently lost two pioneers and leaders of the industry. We remember their dedication to advancing optics and the legacies they leave behind.

Cody Green  Co-owner of PFG Precision Optics and former APOMA President, Colin 'Cody' Green was an integral member of the optics community. Cody, along with his brothers, helped PFG build an exceptional reputation for manufacturing and coating precision optical components. Cody will have a lasting impact on the optics industry and all those who knew him.

Cody Kreischer – Before becoming President of Kreischer Optics, Ltd., Cody started working for his father, Emil, as early as the fifth grade. Through hard work and determination, Cody became a highly influential lens manufacturer in the US. Cody truly defined what it means to be a Master Optician. Besides his knowledge of aspheres, his presence and personality will be greatly missed.

In March 2017, APOMA donated $41,325.90 to the Robert "Bob" Novak Scholarship Fund, which is awarded to two students annually.

Because of APOMA's contribution and continued support of furthering educational programs for young scientists and engineers, SPIE has agreed to match the contribution amount. The scholarship funds will be paid out over a minimum of 22 years.

We would like to extend a big 'thank you' to SPIE for this gift and their tremendous involvement in the industry.

We'd also like to thank all APOMA members who helped us make the original donation to the scholarship. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Since 2000, optics professionals from companies worldwide have been participating in an annual golf tournament to benefit the Golisano Children's Hospital. Now in its 17th year, the WNY Optics Golf Tournament draws over 300 golfers from 70 companies and organizations and has raised $282,000.00.

This year's tournament is July 20 and will be split among three different courses – Shadow Lake, Greystone and Eagle Vale. The primary course and dinner will be held at Eagle Vale in Fairport, NY.
