Tucson workshop overview

After great success with our 2014 workshop, we are excited to offer our exclusive members-only technical workshop again in Tucson. The event features discussions on fabrication and allows APOMA members to learn about differentiating their company by improving their technical skills.

At this year's event, attendees will hear from fellow industry professionals about freeform optics, polishing, and interferometry. They will have the opportunity to learn techniques for more effective optical cleaning, faster experiment design, scratch and damage management, sapphire processing, and more. Featured presentations are aimed at the interests of APOMA members and provide an informative platform that cannot be found at other events.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the University of Arizona Mirror Lab. This tour offers insight to large mirror manufacturing and some of the new developments that the U of A are working on. Tours for APOMA members are scheduled for Thursday, November 10 from 3:30 pm to 6 pm.

We've put together a few items to help make your planning easier.

Join us for this exclusive members-only event - past attendees have found it worthwhile, and we are sure you will too!

"The PR Hoffman team felt that between the presentations, SOML tour and the networking, the time was extremely well spent."
Kerry Woods, PR Hoffman, Sales Manager

Tech workshop paper submission

While the technical workshop in Tucson is quickly approaching, there is still time to submit your paper for presentation. As we finalize plans, we are extending the submission deadline for papers and invite all members who wish to submit an educational paper to provide a topic and brief abstract.

Because the workshop is focused on fabrication, primary consideration will be given to papers discussing how to build an operational and technical edge within companies.

Submitted topics currently include:

  • Freeform optics
  • Working with IR materials
  • Advances in polish materials
  • High precision lens mounting
  • Applying Lean principles to optics manufacturing
  • Developments in aspheric manufacturing
  • Advancements in cleaning technologies

Thank you to all who provided their work; we look forward to seeing what other topics are submitted!
